Privacy Policy

AZ Word (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a word game. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the app, websites, and related services (the “Service”).
What we collect
- Account & profile: username; profile stats (streak, coins, rank, badges); preferences (e.g., “adsRemoved”).
- Gameplay & progress: trophy progress, adventure participation, scores for leaderboards, anti-cheat signals.
- Device & usage: device model/OS, app version, IP-derived coarse location, crash/log events.
- Ads (AdMob): identifiers and signals to show/measure ads; personalized ads only with your consent (via Google’s UMP, where available).
- AI inputs & outputs: prompts, in-game context, and the AI-generated words/hints/definitions you see. See “AI features” below.
- Contact: messages you send us (support, reports, feedback).
How we use information
- Provide gameplay, leaderboards, trophies, accounts, syncing, and safety/anti-abuse protections.
- Generate game content using AI and improve quality/safety of those features.
- Show, cap, and measure ads; honor your consent choices for ad personalization.
- Fix bugs, analyze performance, and improve the Service; communicate updates and important notices.
AI features
AZ Word uses artificial intelligence (“AI”) to generate words, hints, definitions, and related content (“AI Output”).
- Data used: your inputs (e.g., prompts or in-game context) and interaction signals may be processed by our systems and trusted AI providers to produce AI Output and maintain/improve the Service.
- Quality & safety: AI may be inaccurate or inappropriate. We may review samples of inputs/outputs to investigate abuse, ensure safety, and improve quality.
- Third-party AI: we may use third-party AI providers that process data on our behalf and may host/process data in other countries under contractual safeguards.
- Your choices: if an in-app toggle is available, you can limit AI features there; otherwise contact us to request limitations where feasible.
Legal bases & jurisdiction
Uganda (primary): We process data under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 (“DPPA”) based on: (i) your consent (e.g., personalized ads); (ii) performance of a contract (to provide the Service); (iii) our legitimate interests (security, anti-abuse, improvements) balanced against your rights; and (iv) legal obligations.
EEA/UK (if applicable): Contract; legitimate interests; consent (e.g., for personalized ads via Google UMP); and legal obligations. You can change consent choices via in-app “Privacy options” (when available) or your device settings.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information with:
- Service providers: Google Firebase (e.g., Authentication, database) to run the app; Google AdMob for ads; trusted AI providers to power AI features.
- Compliance & safety: to comply with law, enforce terms, protect users, or respond to valid legal requests.
- Business changes: as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, subject to this Policy.
Data retention
We keep account and gameplay data while your account is active. We retain logs and diagnostic data for as long as needed for security, debugging, and legal/compliance, then delete or de-identify them. Ad partners (e.g., AdMob) and AI providers may retain limited logs consistent with their policies and our contracts.
Your choices & rights
- Access, correction, deletion: you can request a copy of your data, ask us to fix it, or delete your account/data (subject to legal allowances).
- Consent & preferences: manage personalized ads via the in-app Privacy options (when available), Google’s UMP prompts, and your device ad settings.
- AI controls: where available, you can limit AI features in-app or contact us to request limitations.
- Complaints: you may lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (e.g., the Personal Data Protection Office in Uganda) or your local authority.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under4. If you are under 10, use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe we have collected data from a child contrary to this section, contact us for removal.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in multiple countries. When we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (contractual and technical) designed to protect your information and your rights.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this Policy; we will change the “Last updated” date and, if changes are material, provide additional notice where required. Continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Policy.
